In our contribution to this competition we focused on integration of strong and independent architecture into the historic context of Venice. A program like an architectural school needs a progressive concept of space illustrating the possibilities of modern architecture and engineering technologies. At the same time we had to deal with the local structure of Venice and embed the building into the block.

Our solution contains volumes carried by the cores and generating the open levels in between. Smooth shaped floors and ceilings combined with an orthogonal block generate a volume of tremendous suspense. Patios transform the volumes and connect open spaces across different levels. The resulting big ranges of suspension are carried within the height of the closed volumes.
