The soft volumes went through a sequence of manipulation to re-establish the connection to the context. The open space got widened where the surrounding provided focal points and narrowed where an introversion was more adequate. The internal separation between private and public was readjusted in the same way.

The design for the extension of the architectural school in Venice consists of two volumes floating over each other, and creating a complex play of open and enclosed space, public and private program. Three different circulations give the various user-groups (students, teacher, visitors and tourists) individual access and experience.
